The NEET-UG exam this year has stirred up a chaotic controversy which has taken a toll on over 24 lakh students who appeared for the exam. Recent commotion talks about paper leaks, unusually high scores, and handing of pre-marked question papers to students in Bihar and a few in Maharashtra. Over 2 lakh NEET-PG aspirants are facing a similar wrath after the centre decided to postpone the exam 10 hours before its start. With so many medical aspirants looking towards a bright and honest future, it definitely seems like dreams being shattered with barely any support to think about what’s next.

Key Highlights of the NEET 2024 Controversy

  • The NEET-UG exam was conducted on May 5, and the results were to be declared on June 14. Surprisingly, the results were declared 10 days before the actual result date on June 4, which stirred uncertainty among the 24 lakh students who participated in the exam.
  • More than 60 students bagged a perfect score of 720, which is unrealistic in itself. Several students who scored 718 and above fall under the same examination centre, which indicated some sort of discrepancy.
  • An examination centre in Rajasthan allegedly handed out pre-marked question papers and later took it back. Students who opted to answer in Hindi were given English question papers.
  • A NEET 2024 aspirant took matters to social media, highlighting their perspective regarding this right from registration dates to students scoring perfect scores in a row. You can read more about it here
  • As for NEET-PG 2024, over 2 lakh PG aspirants were in a state of dilemma after the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the exam date has been cancelled just 10 hours before the actual time of the exam on June 23. Thousands of students were left with uncertainty because they had already faced multiple date changes since March 2024.
  • As per sources, the NEET 2024 counselling process is estimated to begin on July 6, 2024. Revised dates will be announced soon.
