Maharashtra 

Maharashtra has the highest number of forts and citadels in the country. Built during the times of Shivaji Maharaj, they give you an insight into his war strategy and techniques. Ellora, located in the Aurangabad district is one of the largest rock-cut caves in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well.

Madhya Pradesh 

From temples to caves, to forts as well as palaces, Madhya Pradesh has it all! Khajuraho, Bhojpur, etc are few of the well-known temples.
